I went and did something kinda crazy.
Maybe it was because there hasn’t been a whole lot going on. Nothing exciting in the last few months. I fulfilled a childhood fantasy.
Ever since I was 10 years old, watching Melrose Place with my mom, and I saw Lisa Rinna and her enormous lips. I don’t know what possessed me to do it now (it was on sale), but I went and got my lips filled up. It was funny when my husband got home he had no idea. I really had no idea I was gonna do it. Somehow, though, he didn’t even notice. They look kinda weird right now but they will go down a bit. I asked my kids if they noticed and they did. I figured this was as good a time as any since if I looked totally freakish at least I am required to wear a mask in public for other reasons.
My mom drove up to Boston to get her vaccine. She lives in South Carolina and wasn’t having luck getting scheduled for one there. My sisters live in Boston so the middle one scheduled a vaccine for her and she just hopped in her little Prius with her three dogs and hit the road. She will have to go back up again for her second shot, but all least she gets to see my sisters. Mom was getting stir crazy anyway asking if I would visit or meet her somewhere. She’s 77 and super high risk and doesn’t need to be getting COVID, but this has all been hard for her because she always has to be doing something. I know the feeling.
I’m still sad about my friends Sonny and Matt and their family leaving for England. But, we are hoping to make friends with more of our neighbors. There are so many families up here with kids that go to school with my kids so it’s stupid for us to not get friendly. This is our goal for the next few months.
We are thinking of doing some COVID safe gathering, maybe outdoors. The kids go to school already together so it seems if one of us gets it, we all will.
It’s hard to not have Matt and Sonny around but it’s nice to know we can have new friends in our neighbors. And, I am planning on going to visit once they get a house and get settled in. I can go see my dad in Sweden too then.
Realtorly Stuff
Other than my new lips the most exciting thing to happen in the last few months has been working real estate has been pretty crazy. I have a total of 5 listings – 2 land listings and 3 homes.
One of the homes is under contract and went under contract in 5 days. The other one is continuously getting lots of showings. Another one became active today, but we won’t do showings until Saturday. I’m a little worried because it will be time-consuming for me as the seller wants me to host all the showings.
It is a unique property that could be great for a lot of different people. It’s two structures, not a legal duplex, but there are essentially two houses connected by a 3-car garage. It’s in the mountains and I’ve already gotten calls on it when we were just in “Coming Soon” status.
One of my land listings is interesting. There is a set of covenants written with this specific sub-division and they are not enforceable, but they are proving to make things difficult. They are scaring people off because of the wording, but the wording involves an HOA that was never formed or incorporated. There’s an easement for road and utilities, but these covenants have been the sticking point.
The listing in Ft. Lupton was very popular. We had a ton of showings and 5 offers in a matter of a few days. So I am working now with the buyer and I’m excited for them and I’m excited for my client. I anticipate that one going smoothly.
And again, I just want to say that now is the time to lock in low-interest rates. Once people see rates go up, they won’t want to sell. Put in offers now until you get something. It doesn’t need to be your forever home, just something that you can put some sweat equity into. I don’t see prices dropping even if appreciation slows.
Have a Happy Valentine’s Day and be sure to give someone in your cohort a nice big kiss. I know I will, especially now that I got these smackers!
