The past two weeks have been a flurry of productivity, family moments, and holiday cheer! Here’s a quick recap of life from December 5th to 18th:
Family and Fun
Tag’s been in Bali for three weeks doing the Boundless Bliss Bali Journey that I did last year, and hearing about his incredible adventure has me even more excited to share this experience with him. It’s such a unique opportunity, and knowing he’s loving it as much as I did is so rewarding. Back at home, I’ve been managing the daily hustle with a lot of help from my brother Adam. From cooking dinner to helping with school drop-offs and baseball, he’s been such a rock. Bridger’s 14th birthday party brought the house down—literally. Seven teenage boys armed with pillows and Nerf guns turned the place into a war zone. They were loud, chaotic, and couldn’t stop saying “bro.” Never again! Still, seeing Bridger happy made it all worthwhile.
We also embraced the holiday spirit with a visit to Georgetown’s charming Christmas Market. The Santa Lucia procession down Rose Street was as heartwarming as ever, with children dressed up and glowing with excitement. Walking those streets brought back so many memories of my boutique days there. It was surreal seeing people still wearing shoes they bought from my shop over a decade ago! Georgetown’s history is magical, and visiting places like the Hamill House, the Energy Museum, and the Hotel de Paris made the experience even richer. The shops, decked out for the holidays, were adorable and full of festive cheer.
Fitness and Food
On the fitness front, I’ve been focusing on increasing my protein intake, and the results have been amazing. After hitting a long plateau, I’m finally seeing improvement again. This past week, I crushed a workout involving a 400-meter run, 30 lateral-over-the-bar burpees, and 20 clean and jerks at 85 pounds. Finishing faster than one of the gym’s top athletes was a huge confidence boost. I’m no elite athlete, but progress feels great! Switching to the 7 a.m. CrossFit class instead of the 6 a.m. one has been a game-changer too. Who knew an extra 45 minutes of sleep could make such a difference?
In the kitchen, my bread-making journey continues to delight. A friend gifted me a bread book, and the pizza dough recipe has become a family favorite. It’s hands-down better than anything we can buy locally. However, Ripple’s pizza gave it a run for its money, and their hot chocolate is on another level. With a dollop of ice cream, it’s pure heaven. We discovered this during a fundraiser for Elk Creek Elementary, where we indulged in pizza, ice cream, and hot chocolate—all for a good cause. I’ve also been whipping up holiday treats like chocolate-dipped peanut butter balls, which have been a huge hit with everyone.
My Real Estate Update
My brother and I closed on 95 Sioux Trail, but not without a little drama! With snow piled high on the roof and a roofer scheduled just one day before closing, we had to get creative. Armed with a roof shovel and snow-melting disks, we cleared the way—and I even earned a battle scar (a tiny, but very dramatic, cut on my hand). Seeing my brother excel in his first listing was the true highlight, though. His customer service skills blew me away, and I couldn’t be prouder! It was also a reminder of how rewarding real estate can be when you’re willing to put in the work and go the extra mile for clients.
Delivering holiday pies to clients has been another highlight of the season. It’s such a joy catching up with everyone and hearing about their lives. One visit that stands out was with my client Mora (this name has been changed to protect the public but you know who you are), who jumped in my truck as soon as I got to her house and shared some exciting news that had her beaming with happiness. Moments like these make me love what I do even more. On top of that, our community food drive was a success, collecting over 200 pounds of food and supplies for the Mountain Resource Center. Giving back feels amazing, especially during the holidays.
Looking ahead, I’m thrilled about teaming up with my brother in real estate. It’s a career where you truly get out what you put in, and the opportunity to help people while building a rewarding business is unmatched. I can’t wait to see what we accomplish together. Here’s to closing out 2024 strong!
