Personal Life: Cinnamon Rolls, Nostalgia, and the Return of the Wolf Pack

Happy (belated) Easter, friends! We kept it short and sweet this year—cinnamon rolls at Tag’s grandma’s and then we all dispersed before overstaying our welcome. Long visits can be tough for the elderly, and let's be honest, no one needs a sugar crash in front of an audience. I followed that gathering with a nap so good it deserves its own holiday. It wasn’t long enough (is it ever?), but it was glorious.

We’re all counting down the moments until Adam returns from Sweden. He’s got the kind of energy that instantly lifts the room—and the laundry baskets, groceries, dishes, and emotional weight of raising boys. He’s like a bonus big brother to my sons, someone they can talk to without the “parent filter,” which is priceless. The house just feels more whole when he’s here.

My mom’s also on her way back to Colorado! She just went under contract here and is now prepping her adorable historic home for sale in Conway, SC. The house has two units (perfect for a multigenerational setup), and it sits in a part of town where the live oak trees are so old and beloved they literally build the roads around them. It’s beautiful. But the South Carolina heat? She says she’s done. And frankly, I’m thrilled.

Not only do I get my mom back, but I also get to go full spa-mode at her new place. I’m talking indoor pool, sauna… the works. But more than that, I’m looking forward to reclaiming some of the simple joys of my adolescence—watching ridiculous romance reality (and not so reality) shows, yelling at the screen together, and talking about the bad decisions of people we don’t know. It’s nostalgic, hilarious, and healing. And now that we’re all getting older, those moments matter more than ever. Even the little things—like the familiar smell of her cooking or the way she fusses about, well, most things—feel like gifts I didn’t know I’d miss.

Real Estate Life: Closings, Clients, and the Price of Honesty

This week brought three closings. That’s multiple journeys wrapped up, three sets of keys handed over, and countless decisions, delays, emotions, and logistics that somehow came together in the end. I’ll keep client details private, but I just have to say—I’m in awe. The strength, resilience, and grace my clients bring to this process never ceases to inspire me. Buying and selling a home isn’t just a financial decision. It’s an emotional leap. And when people trust me to walk through that with them? I don’t take it lightly.

Between those closings, I also met with new clients—one was a second referral by someone who wasn’t even my own buyer originally. That kind of support humbles me to my core. There are so many agents out there. The fact that clients come back to me and send others my way—it fills me with gratitude (and maybe a little pressure, but the good kind).

Not everything this week was wrapped in a bow, though. One of my listings is being temporarily pulled from the market so the seller can paint and replace the carpet—based on showing feedback. That’s a smart move in today’s market. Buyers want turnkey, especially with interest rates still higher than we’re used to. That’s why I always say:

  • Price ahead of the market, not behind it.

  • If showings are crickets after two weeks, you’re likely 10% too high.

  • If people are looking but not biting, you’re 5% off.

  • Don’t play the $5,000 price-drop game. That’s death by a thousand cuts.

  • Pricing is a strategy, not a declaration. Value is like water—it finds its level.

Ultimately, sellers and agents are on the same side—it’s not a battle, it’s a partnership. The goal is always the same: get the home sold for the best price, on the best terms, in the right time frame. And while I’ll always do my best no matter the price, I’ve found sellers are a lot happier when we’re honest from the start and price to win, not just to wish.

So whether you’re negotiating with the market or yelling at the TV with your mom over a questionable Bachelor contestant, I hope your week had at least one moment of joy, one nap, and one reminder that the little things are, in fact, the big things.

Until next time, Victoria
