Personal Life: Dancing, Baseball, Birthdays, and Agreements vs. Expectations

This week, Tag and I took our dancing ambitions (and two left feet) to Turnverine in Denver for a Lindy Hop group lesson. But first, we fueled up on some delicious vegan food at Watercourse. We were a little late to class—because, of course, we were—and I spent the first 15 minutes feeling like a baby deer on ice. We got the hang of it (kind of), but when we tried to practice at home, it was as if our bodies had never moved before. Dancing is so hard for me. It’s like my brain and my limbs refuse to collaborate. But here’s the thing: I really want to be a good dancer. Something in me says this is worth pushing through. Future old-me will definitely regret not trying. So, the struggle continues.

Saturday was all about good vibes and girl time. I went on a gorgeous hike with my friend Starin, and we’re making this a regular thing because, honestly, there’s nothing like uninterrupted one-on-one chats with a good friend.

Then, Bridger and I had a date day that was better than I could have imagined. I rented a baseball lane for us, and we did all the fun baseball things without the running (ideal). Then, in true contrast, we hit up an IV clinic where I got a vitamin infusion, and he got oxygen and a massage chair experience. The kid was living his best life. We followed that up with pizza and mussels (because that’s a totally normal combo, right?), cleaned my car (for my mom’s impending inspection), and then went to see Moana 2. Bridger was in a fantastic mood the whole time, which as any parent knows, is pure gold. To cap it off, we hit the mall, got him some new clothes, and now he won’t stop talking about his “drip.” Teenage fashion confidence is next-level.

Sunday was a mix of work and play—Tag, Sterling, and I headed to Breckenridge for a buyer appointment, some skiing, hot tubbing, and then a listing appointment in Fairplay. Sterling initially protested skiing like it was some form of medieval torture, but shocker—he ended up having a blast. Classic kid move.

Speaking of Sterling, his birthday is today! To celebrate, we’re heading out for a big seafood dinner with the whole family. If there’s one thing I know about Sterling, it’s that he is genuinely excited about any gift he receives. The kid could open a pack of underwear and react like he’s just discovered the concept of underwear for the first time. It’s one of my favorite things about him—pure joy, no matter what.

Adding to the excitement, my mom finally made it into town for a visit! It’s been a year and a half since she last came out—not for lack of trying. The first attempt ended with her falling down the stairs at the Charleston airport (she’s fine now, but what a saga). The second attempt? Cancelled flights due to weather. But the third time’s the charm, and she’s here at last!

In big family news, my sister Jenny is coming from Sweden in May! She’s working on a very thrilling PhD in Paper (yes, paper), which apparently takes her to conferences around the world. She’s also getting married this summer—yay! Which means we get to go to Sweden and then take them to Madeira for their honeymoon, because who doesn’t love having their whole family tag along on their romantic getaway?

Tag and I had a deep dive into the difference between expectations and agreements this week, and let’s just say I’ve been living in expectation land for way too long. Expectations set you up for disappointment; agreements feel like a mutual effort. I’m working on shifting my parenting from “Here’s what I expect you to do” to “Let’s agree on this plan together.” Less dictatorship, more teamwork.

Real Estate Life: Deals, Inspections, and Market Madness

On the real estate front, things are humming along. I’ve still got six properties under contract—four buyers, and two listings. We’re inching our way through inspections, which always feels like an episode of Survivor, but I made a great new contractor connection in Bailey who might just save the day. Fingers crossed the repair costs on one of my listings are minimal.

The market is… weird. Interest rates have dipped slightly, but not enough to send everyone into a buying frenzy. That said, some buyers are making moves, and for sellers, presentation, and pricing are everything right now. If you want to sell quickly and for a solid price, your home needs to be in tip-top shape.

If you want access to my off-market “Property of the Week” (a.k.a. the secret goods I can’t post online), text me at 303-328-8800 and I’ll send you the inside scoop.
